I ran across this web site the other day: http://numericalmethods.eng.usf.edu/index.html
which has a lot of information on teaching numerical methods and it discusses a number of packages (Maple, Matlab, MathCAD, Mathematica). It may be that the author isn't familiar with Sage and Scipy, but it might be nice if the same resources were available in Sage form. It's all pretty well done and the author has funding for the work.
