Dear Anne, I tried to compile the source code on Windows Subsystem for Linux (Ubuntu) and could not go through the compilation process. Then I installed Fedora 32 as a separate OS. I installed all the packages listed on the following website: https://doc.sagemath.org/html/en/installation/source.html#prerequisites
Then I let my computer compile the source code at night, when I woke up it was compiled successfully. Hope this might help. Best wishes, Furkan.
