That sounds reasonable to me.  Other than GAP I don't personally have
any reason to delay 8.5 any further (I do think
https://trac.sagemath.org/ticket/23572 should be merged without
further delay and I'm not sure what the hold up is on that, but I
don't think it's a blocker).
