Inspired by this I ran pyflakes over the "sage/modular" directory and fixed
all the errors it spotted (mostly unnecessary imports and variables
assigned but never used). There's a branch at trac #25310 -- it'd be good
to get it refereed soon, since it touches lots of different files and thus
is very vulnerable to conflicts with other patches. Any volunteers?
