Dunno. Can't speak for the release team. Two possible data points : Sage now compiles under Cygwin (at least in a 64 bits machine). It seems that a couple doctests (related to signal handling, in my unenlightened opinion) do not yet pass. But it seems larrgely usable. You may have a couple of helper scripts to integrate it in Windows' workflow. See my posts in the release announcement <https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/sage-release/SzYBsCH_KP0> thread. Under Windows 10 64 bits with the so-called "Creators Update" and Windows subsystem for Linux, Sages compiles and runs like a charm. Again, a couple integrative scripts may be useful. Both solutions are affected by "slow" startup, which I *think* is bound to the disk I/O. However, both solutions seem to me to be superior to the installation of a virtual Linux machine, which entails a fixed allocation of memory and CPU (not a great idea on a small machine). My subjective impression, not backed by any formal benchmark, is that WSL may be a tad faster than Cygwin ; but this should be formally checked. It is also al *lot* more easier to live in, *FOR ME*. Which means that I'm hopelessly Unix-biased... > > also Windows native distribution will be avaiable on oficial mirrors or > still builds will be: https://github.com/embray/sage-windows/releases > Again, I can't talk for the release team (i. e. Volker Braun, AFAICT). But I'd be surprised if Erik Bray, who managed the astonishing feat of porting Sage to Cygwin, doesn't produce an updated version of his (impressive) installer. If yo decide to go the WSL route, you may or may not be able to install one of the precompiled Sage binaries (one is the Ubuntu PPA, another one is the Ubuntu port of the Debian port ; both should (normally) be upgraded to Sage 8 in the next few weeks...).
