There's at least

28M     giac-1.2.2.37/src/javagiac_linux32.tgz
394K    giac-1.2.2.37/src/javagiac_linux64.tgz
28M     total

which we certainly don't have to ship, besides perhaps some prepared
documentation (dvi, ps, pdf etc.), and documentation on PARI/GP.

I'd also bzip2 the tarball.

With just the two files above removed (but still a lot more than in the
previous version):

11M     giac-1.2.2.37.tar.bz2
