Thanks, The file "ffi.h" was the problem after all. I had to sudo yum install libffi-devel
just having libffi alone wasn't cutting it. I couldn't track down the "ffi.h" file from Volker's command and so I went back to see what I was not reading correctly from the yum whatprovides command.
