/* disclaimer: just throwing an idea, I don't feel involved by the problem */ Wouldn't it be possible to look for those config files in ~/.sage/, so that users could manually define a couple of things if they need to (couldn't guess what this could be) by creating a .R/ (or whatever) in there (and explain the procedure in the manual somewhere)?
