This message seems like flamebait [1], hence probably does not belong on this list, and belongs on sage-flame [2] instead. I think it is best if people direct any responses to sage-flame [2] rather than here. I'm not saying that this ethics-in-software topic isn't worth discussing, but I do not think it should be discussed on sage-devel, since saying "Professionals. That's a joke." is definitely not friendly, patient, welcoming, considerate, respectful or polite [3], and we voted as a community to keep discussions on lists besides sage-flame friendly.
