Re (B): a deprecation warning is normally a message to the user that they should start to do things in a different way, as the old way will stop working. This does not seem appropriate here, since it is not the user who is expected to change behaviour (unless you regard all users as developers!). So rather than a deprecation warning as such why not a message saying
"OLDSTYLEPACKAGE is no longer supported by SageMath; if it was important for your work, please contact <sage-support?> with a request to upgrade the package." Then, if many such requests come in for a package we will at least know what is missed and could be given priority.
