Yes - this would be just fine, if for PYTHON (and Sage) we had this 
approach. Note that from the notebook point of view no stripping should be 
done still. And if some fiddling has to be done in the notebook, then it 
should be special treatment of doing extra for python/sage, rather that 
special treatment of NOT doing something strange for fortran.
