Hello, in the meantime the fourth patch of Singular release 4.0 is available at http://www.mathematik.uni-kl.de/ftp/pub/Math/Singular/SOURCES/4-0-0/
(please ignore the offered 3.1.7 version on their homepage; I don't really know why they promote v3.7) Among the re-factoring v4.0 contains a lot of bug fixes (and likely some new bugs). I also know that in 4.0 there will be no more major design changes (in 4.1 there will be). I would really really like (for now, due to a lack of viable alternatives) to use singular 4.0 in sage to implement some special cases for resolution of singularities, since it would be a pain to do it in singular due to missing language and library features. Unfotrunately I'm not too familiar with sage and libsingular so I could not easily upgrade the used version in sage from 3.1.6 to 4.0 by myself even if I wanted. So I'm asking here for help/volunteers for that task. In turn, I will work on other sage tickets and you can also file me known major singular bugs (for the recent version) and I will annoy the Singular community to fix them. Jakob Remark: i would not depend that hard on Singular if sage had independent implementations e.g of primary decomposition (which is undocumented spaghetti mess in Singular libs anyway) and ring normalization algorithms. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "sage-devel" group.
