I do not get why making the audience smaller makes the popularity higher...

I find the expression very unpleasant for the packages.

Many questions are still open with the capacities of SE:
 * is it possible to get a dump of the entries of the database?
 * where is the source code?
 * is it possible to tune the code (e.g., as mentioned by Thierry,
automatic bug reports)?

If you open such SE it would be one more entry point to lose
newcommers. There is already sage-support and ask.sagemath.org which
artificially crerate duplicates. So I really do not see the point of
opening one more tool in such a hurry.
