As I've pointed out on other occasions, we never used R via rpy in the 
first place.  However, it would be fantastic to integrate more of R 
functionality into actual used functions, whether via rpy2 or pexpect. 
 That said, probably it would be more natural to do data-frame stuff via 
pandas or something.  See my other reply for why to keep R standard.
