Thanks for your very instructive comments. 
I agree we should use factory methods and implement Parent/Element for 
Manifold/Point. 
Regarding the mutability, I am not sure it is a good thing to construct a 
manifold in a single step by passing all the charts and all the transition 
functions at once. During the study of a given manifold, the user may 
decide to introduce a new chart for some purpose. Note also that, in the 
present setting, the Manifold class not only holds all the charts but also 
all the (moving) vector frames and coframes. The latter may be constructed 
"on the fly" during the "life" of the manifold in a worksheet, which 
implies that Manifold has to be mutable.
