Upgrading *from* betas / rcs is only (again) supported since Sage 5.9.beta4, i.e., you'd need some stable 5.8 (or probably stable 5.7, or 5.9.beta4+) version to upgrade from.
But the final 5.10 will (hopefully) get out soon anyway (although you could upgrade from 5.10.rc1, say, later, too).
I'd recommend building 5.10.rc1 from scratch (and upgrading /that/ later) though... ;-)
