That's a good idea. The current installation guide does suggest copying the file to the current directory, but no one seems to do that, and the author of the blog post went on a wild goose chase, editing his system-wide bashrc and mucking with environment variables when all he needed to do is replace "SAGE_ROOT" with the appropriate path.
