I'm not sure what you call the "correct behaviour". I can only say that
after I modified the standard "sage-env" script and created a new
"binary tarball" ... the "sage-env" script in that new tarball was the
original / unmodified one and I got no single warning / error notifying
me that there's something wrong somewhere.
I meant 'sage --sdist' and 'sage --bdist' should by default check that
all repos are clean before doing anything, and if they aren't, either
exit with an appropiate error message, or alternatively prompt the user
to commit them now.
The former used to be the behaviour at some point in the past, IIRC.
