Hi,

I raise the question of boost in sage because :

(1) of the recent "PolyBoRi requires boost library" thread on this
mailing-list ;

(2) because sage 5.0 has a boost_cropped spkg, whose SPKG.txt says it
was obtained by taking the sources out of polybori's, which means :
(i) it wasn't a proper packaging from upstream ;
(ii) it's not clear which parts of boost it contains : apt-cache search
libboost |grep 1.49.0 |wc -l says 21 on my box, and I don't have
everything installed -- for example I don't have the unit-test part
which is the subject of the other thread, so "boost" is perhaps too
generic, especially since it's "boost-from-polybori".

The second point has bothered me for quite some time already, so
with the first in the air, it might be time to ask : wouldn't it be
worth to have a proper boost spkg, which would contain the needed
frameworks, coming from upstream?

I know asking for the inclusion of something in sage might be
surprising coming from me, but I prefer a clean and clear from-upstream
spkg than patches left and right.
