Well, if you do "apropos openssl", you get a bunch of stuff printed.  If you 
look in "/usr/include/openssl/crypto.h", it claims to be a product of the 
OPENSSL project.

This is on both 10.6 (Xcode 3.2) and 10.7 (Xcode 4.2).
