I forwarded this thread to Evgeny, who responds basically that help is on the way: "Hi William, There is a bug - when the questions is closed it cannot be deleted (I think). You can try reopening and deleting, but we will solve these bugs soon, I've been neglecting these because use cases have been rare. Deleted questions are not visible to anyone but admins and the authors. In the future we will have a more definitive delete option. Sorry, I do remember about upgrade of your hosting, will try to manage this week.
