Sorry, forgot:

In general, you'd also have to do

$ ./sage -ba-force

to rebuild the whole Sage library; otherwise some extension modules
might still reference the wrong library.

But this seems to not be the reason in this case.

Perhaps also check what compiler-related variables Python has set (for
distutils).
