David,
it's pretty usual to have this. Spammers harvest addresses on the net
and use them in the From field.
(my addresses are used like this for the last 15 years :))
It appears this was not simply that. I have a gmail account
(drkir...@gmail.com), which can send email appearing to come from my onetel
account (david.kir...@onetel.net). Google mail permits this, as long as they
have confirmed one can read a message sent to the onetel acount.
Anyway, there appears to be one message in the "Sent" folder on the gmail
account which was not sent by me. It appears to come from onetel, but that's
just because my gmail account is set up like that. I'm convinced someone hacked
the gmail account.
Also, Google have detected what they considered "suspicious activity" and locked
the account. When I got it unlocked, I needed to reset the password.
I did not have a very secure password on the gmail account - its the same
password I use for pretty much anything that I don't overly care about security
for. It's conceivable someone wrote something which tried various passwords on
various accounts and got lucky with mine.
Anyway, the password is now more secure, so I hope it stays that way.

If you get an email that appears to come from me, that looks silly, then please
send me a private email. I'm not exactly sure what has happened. Whether someone
has hacked my account and so sending mail form there, or if they are just
spoofing the "From" field. But at least a couple of people have got spam with my
email address in the "From" field.
