Would it not be better if the image had the colouration that is usually given which indicates the number of iterations before the point remains bounded? It is much more ascetically pleasing to show the colour.

I recall many years ago programming an 80387 floating point processor to generate this quickly. It is possible to do it all in the stack-based 80387, without needing to access external memory.
