P.S.: Francois, I thought you were "on leave" moving to a different location? Nice to see that you read Sage threads nevertheless! ..... Moving to the new location was quite fast and started work straight away. I only moved into a house of my own on Monday but I don't have internet at home yet. I have been able to read various mailing list - but not much more than comment - for the last 2 weeks. Still have stuff to set up though. Regarding sage-on-gentoo/prefix a major difference with "plain" sage is that we have to gmp rather than mpir. Using mpir is a major problem for us for various reasons. I can expand at a later stage if you want - it is technical rather than philosophical. If you have any problem with getting sage on prefix working please send me and Christopher a note and we'll work on it. Doing work on x86-macos at the moment I am seeing a few problems that needs fixing.
