Is there a reason you used e.g. -gap instead of --gap in the help?  AFAIU they 
both work and -- is the future.  I'm just thinking that while we are changing 
it we might as well change that too.  Or perhaps this change won't matter once 
trac #21 is merged.  That said I don't really know the status of trac #21, but 
it looks close.
