If you're using free in the FSF/GNU sense of the word, open source =/=> free. Case in point being Microsoft's shared source license and the other licenses at http://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html#NonFreeSoftwareLicense. However, the terms certainly are related and I'd agree it'd be worthwhile to combine the points were this to go live.
