Yes, that's correct. Nathan is in his 4th year at an undergraduate institution in the United States. He can correct me if I am wrong, but he will be finished with his course work in computer science this year and is staying on for an additional semester or year to obtain a second degree in mathematics (or perhaps he is just doing most of the mathematics course work). Nathan mentions that he has a strong mathematical background, but this might mean something different to people on this list than it does to him. To clarify, he is one of our strongest students and has done very well in the courses he has taken. However, he does not have formal coursework in such subjects as number theory, abstract algebra, real analysis, and complex analysis. Yet he has taught himself some of this material on his own and has the ability to pick things up quickly on his own. I'm hoping that he chimes in here soon as I have pretty much no knowledge of most of the topics that have been mentioned. (I'm hoping that I get to learn a few new things while I co-mentor Nathan.)
