I am one of the two sage-on-gentoo dev. I actually tried it on s-o-g without trouble. I had to adapt William's procedure a bit: emerge bpython source /usr/bin/sage-env bpython and at the prompt enter the stuff suggested by William - it is indeed quite fun to watch.
