There are a number of tickets "active" for updates to ECL. Several have positive
review, but are based on different versions of ECL, Some of the fixes that
supposed to be applied are not.
Issues are
* The new code to implement building SPKGs in parallel needs a minor change to
the the spkg-install of ECL to disable parallel building. #9187
* We need to clear out some /tmp/ECL files which makes building on 't2'
unreliable. This is the *original* purpose of #9187
* The option '--with-dffi=no' needs adding on OpenSolaris x64
Along with this, a ticket to update ECL to the latest upstream was created, and
so all these changes have then been applied to that.
From a comment by Jason at #8951, the ECL update *only* be merged
simultaneously with the new maxima at #8731."
But it appears that the Maxima update is stilled, awaiting resolution of
doctests issues. The ticket for the Maxima update has not had any activity for 3
weeks.
As I remark at #8951, tt seems to me we have three choices here:
* Update ECL, without updating Maxima, which I believe Jason says is not
possible.
* Update both Maxima and ECL to the latest versions *quickly*.
* Apply all the other very small changes to the ECL 10.2.1 that is in Sage
now. So leaving updating ECL to 10.4.1 until a later date.
Comments?
