Hello list, I just noticed on the website that the next SAGE days will be held in Leiden. I'm currently working as a research fellow at the European Space Agency establishment ESTEC in Noordwijk (~10 km from Leiden). I was wondering if there is any interest in giving a presentation about SAGE to my research team:
http://www.esa.int/gsp/ACT/index.htm Every Friday we organise short informal talks (~30 min) on scientific/technical topics, the audience being composed mostly by members of the team and research fellows/engineers/young graduate trainees from other departments. The background of the audience is prevalently rooted in engineering, with a minority of physicists and virtually no mathematicians (at least that I know of). So I can imagine a lot of questions of the viability of SAGE as a Matlab replacement would be popping up :-) I just checked the calendar and the Friday 9 talk slot is still available. I think it would be very nice to have an introductory talk about SAGE in order to expose my team fellows to it, and to highlight the existence of alternatives to the tools they are currently using. I think it would be also interesting and instructive to have a glimpse of the open development process taking place in SAGE - open source/governance being methodologies we are trying to push and promote within the agency.
