To take a different tack, it's your code, you can place any license on it that you want. You can choose to take the GPL (or part thereof) or you could equally validly use the Microsoft Windows EULA. If you are writing code with the intention of embedding it into a larger body of code (eg Sage) then you license needs to be compatible with the overall license.
