You are right that this ticket isn't the same, though it is also a good one and probably can be fixed at the same time. I must have been thinking of http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ticket/7050, though, because after quite a search I can't find the other one I thought was out there! #7050 could be related though - it would be nice to be able to go back and forth between plotting various representations of complex numbers.
