Dear all, Please excuse the long and unfocussed email, but I thought this gives a better account of user behaviour (well, my behaviour as a sage user) than pointed suggestions for improvements.
I was looking for the release tour for Sage 4.3 or previous versions, but could not find a link to it on sagemath.org. I thought that it should be part of the documentation, so I looked there as well, without success. While looking around, I found a very useful link to "Numerical Sage" and there a reference to f2py, which could be amazingly useful for me. I wondered why I have never found it before, so I checked the documentation that comes with sage and first of all didn't find the link to Numerical Sage there. The search function in the Reference manual does not work for me either. I get the following message: "Please activate JavaScript to enable the search functionality." It is activated and the search works fine if I use the "Fast Static Versions of Documentation". While there, I also found links to Numerical Sage and the other documents that are linked in the online documentation. However, if I search for "Fortran" in the reference manual, I don't find anything about f2py. I would be great if there was an overarching search function for all of the documentation that comes with sage. It would also be great if there would be links to the "Other documents" in the first page that appears when one clicks on Help in the notebook. Maybe the release tour does not have to come with sage as it is not very meaningful to the first-time user of sage, but it would be great if there were obvious links to it from the frontpage of sagemath.org, as this would be the first thing one could look at before deciding whether an upgrade should be done. Actually, links to the previous release tours would be helpful, too, as someone using e.g. sage 3.x might want to know what has changed since. Thanks again for the great work! Cheers Stan
