I'd recommend linking to or citing an article in the Monthly -- I think
it was called "Unbounded spigot algorithms for digits of pi", from maybe
2004 or 2005, which was what introduced me to Haskell. That article did
a really good job of explaining why a mathematician should think that
programming languages that are lazy and functional are really neat and
useful.
