I know 4.1.2.rc0 has been released, but William has marked my trac item http://sagetrac.org/sage_trac/ticket/7021 as a blocker for 4.1.2.
"This is such a major improvement -- and fairly safe -- I would really like this in 4.1.2 so I'm upgrading this to blocker." I must admit, I was pleased to see those comments! However, it is still marked as needing review. As William says, it is pretty safe. It has the potential to uncover a huge number of bugs in Sage, as well as stopping people doing some things which we know will fail, like building with gcc 4.0.0.
