Hi William, on Cygwin.org (see "http://cygwin.com/cygwin-ug-net/ov-ex-win.html";), they recommend to search for "UNIX basics" and "UNIX tutorial". Doing so yields e.g.:
http://www.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Teaching/Unix/ where you can find a browser- or offline-readable "UNIX Tutorial for Beginners", which states it is under the Creative Commons License. It looks pretty good to me. (It's from 2001, but that's absolutely OK, "basic commandline UNIX" is both mature and stable for more than a decade now ...)
