Hi, I'm not sure that discuss about the interface design of sage notebook inside firefox is at the right place. But let me give my advise during the first uses of sage 2 weeks ago or forget this mail.
Even if I also use sage.el in emacs, the web-interface is really a very great-great-great work ! Theses mentions are only about little changes. 1/ I look at a RED-stop button [after running the silly next_prime(10^567)] Of corse now I have found the stop-action, but it's not so usual to go at the top of the page and chose stop in action... Two stop buttons at the top and at the end of the page may be useful. 2/ It's easy to understand what do "return" And now I only use Alt-return and Backspace. I feel it's also possible to use Ctrl-return and Ctrl-backspace. A splash-screen at the very beginning of sage session with only the most useful key may be nice. return = creates a newline inside a cell alt-return = evaluates a cell and creates a new one backspace = erases an empty-cell ctrl-backspace = joins this cell to the previous one 3/ Alt-return creates a new empty cell after the current cell, It's all right for a new calculus. ctrl-return does so the line-before. Why not. How can I redo a computation line after line without create empty line ? 4a/ A interrupt message after a break may inform the user that sage really stops the calculus. Sometime I don't understand where is the running computation. I'm in this case when I look at students works. I don't understand what is running, what is waiting, where is the computation. 4b/ A backward color of the current cell may also indicate where sage is running. 4c/ And sage may add a little icon displaying "sage is waiting" or "sage is running"... 5/ I like poor interface. I don't understand the 4 areas at the top of a sage-screen. a- A first menu admin|Toggle|Home|... b- A save (save&quit, ...) area c- An other area with file (and read file, but no save file), actions,... d- and the last area Worksheet, Edit, Text, ...
