This is slightly off topic, but the site

http://python.genedrift.org

has a number of tutorials on using Python for bioinformatics. I've
been planning to do something similar, but using Sage's library code.
Perhaps a number of readers of this list know about the above site,
but I want to post it here in case others haven't come across the site
before.
