Tried this against 3.1.4 on Mac OS X 10.5.5 (Core Duo).  Worked w/o  
problems (warned twice of large Minkowski bound).  I assume that all  
you are testing is the one modified file :-}

The obligatory dumb question: when it fails, are you *positive* that  
you are running the right version of Sage?  I have gotten myself any  
number of times by applying a patch in $SAGE_ROOT/devel/sage-branch,  
but using 'sage' instead of '../../sage' for one or all of "sage -hg  
import", "sage -b", or "sage -t".  At least for me, this gets my a  
"stable" sage, not the just-installed version.
