gcc_select is history, as of Xcode 3.x.  Travis's

         make CC=gcc-4.2

is the Way To Go now.

I think things were getting a bit too complex to continue using  
gcc_select.  With Xcode 2.5 and 3.x, you can now have multiple Xcodes  
installed and use each more or less independently.  This includes the  
various versions *and* builds of gcc.
