alpha3 is out and it looks like mostly ready, it's already quite usable, probably beta really soon (seems like week looking at previous releases but there might be another alpha in between also)... they work on it in rpy_nextgen branch > If we upgrade rpy we might as well upgrade R and split the rpy.spkg > off from the r.spkg. hmm...
