Hi Robert, > On considering this, I believe you are correct. As usual IANAL: The current Maxima release (5.15.0) is and forever will be released under the current license it is. Would somebody add GPL V3 code to Maxima in the next release that as a "combined work" would be under V3 while all the bits that used to be "GPL" are still under the GPL as source. The above argument depends on a compiled lisp image being a "combined work", and I honestly have to say I do not know if that is the case or not. > But since v3 is among "any version ever published" it seems like > the use of Maxima in Sage is OK. Yes/no/maybe ? IANAL still applies: Regardless of the above: Yes, the license as-is is ok for Sage. Anything included in Sage should be GPL V2+ compatible and it is my understand that as-is this is the case. > best > > Robert Dodier Cheers, Michael --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ To post to this group, send email to sage-devel@googlegroups.com To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For more options, visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/sage-devel URLs: http://www.sagemath.org -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
