(see the penultimate paragraph for the connection to Sage)

To graduate students on the list:

During the month of July, Iowa State University will be hosting a
graduate-student program on linear algebra and applications. We are
accepting applicants to be funded by the NSF with an application
deadline of Apr 15. The information about the program is available here:

http://www.ima.umn.edu/2007-2008/PISG6.30-7.25.08/

In addition to the NSF slots mentioned above, each IMA participating
institution can send several students, so if you are at an IMA
institution, your chances are even greater of getting accepted.

The program activities include 4 topics and visiting speakers, one each
week:

1. Linear algebra and applications to combinatorics (Bryan Shader)

2. Numerical linear algebra (David Watkins)

3. Matrix inequalities in science and engineering (Chi-Kwong Li)

4. Applications of linear algebra to dynamical systems (Fritz Colonius)

The connection to Sage:

We will be installing Sage for the participants to use (there will be
around 50 graduate students, as well as the visiting faculty and several
organizers). In addition, I will be helping with the conference; if
there are any sage developers here, I would love to have some coding
sessions related to linear algebra.

If you are interested, I highly encourage you to apply.

Jason
