Please install gfortran system-wide; something like (I assume you are on a
Debian/Ubuntu-like distro, as I gather from the config.log)

sudo apt-get install gfortran

and try again.

In general, please run ./configure, and pay attention to the list of
system-wide packages it asks/recommends to be installed.
