I very much hope and strongly encourage that technology
developed in the context of Sage will turn into the sorts of thing you
want, even if that isn't the current stated aim of the Sage project.
For example, the great work Tim Abbot has done on debianization
of Sage helps a huge amount and I'm extremely supportive of that.
And I strongly agree with Gary Furnish's answer to your email above.
