GitHub does not *require* a mobile phone, for anything at all, including
their 2FA.

as if big companies don't know your mobile number - you're using gmail
yourself, right...
Anyhow, no, even if you're one of extremely lucky and privileged few
who can live in 2022 in a developed country
without a mobile, you still can use GitHub, sorry :-)
