This is great stuff! Just over this last weekend, I was talking to a good friend about Sage and this capability came up. I know he'll be excited about these improvements and may switch to using sage because of how easy it is to use from tex. Good job! I've put up a few nitpicky comments on trac. But after addressing these comments, I definitely think this should go in.
