I've been doing some more investigating this problem. William has reported it in Opera and I've just been testing using Internet Explorer (yuk). I started Wireshark (used to be called Ethereal) to monitor traffic between my rarely-used Windows box and my Linux laptop which is running the notebook server. First time round clicking on 'evaluate' produces the hangup. Nothing observed over the ethernet which says that the Javascript isn't doing what it's expected to do. Works fine if you click in the cell then press Shift-Enter.
