Hello,

The clisp update didn't work out due to a known issue with
gcc 4.2.3 with Debian testing on x86. So I reverted back
to clisp-2.41.p11.spkg. There was some fallout from the
updated cremona.spkg, but now it should work out of the
box. FLINT was updated to 1.0. Until the final release
I plan to force running the regressions suite. It takes
about 6-20 minutes time, but should be a worthwhile
investment. Please report success and failures to sage-devel
in the thread "request for testing: flint-1.0.spkg"

Next up is ATLAS, R got bumped to 2.9.1, but please test
the optional spkg and report issues. I am also interested
in PolyBoRi, so please send me a bundle that applies
cleanly against alpha1. The previous bundle didn't work
for me.

I only merged a couple non-spkg tickets, mostly due to missing
reviews. Some people already claimed some tickets, so I
am confident that I will have something to merge tomorrow.

The alpha1 tarball [167MB in size] is at

http://sage.math.washington.edu/home/mabshoff/sage-2.9.alpha1.tar

A list of tickets with patches [still alpha0, not updated for alpha1]:

#444 [with patch] solve the rubik's cube fast!
#980 [with patch] random_element() for multivariate polynomials
#1119 [with patch] EllipticCurve.random_element for char=2
#1162 [with patch] fix issues in RealField <-> RQDF conversions
#1237 [with patch] E.torsion_order() fails on curves with big
      coefficients !!
#1239 [with patch] Wrap Simon's new gp two descent code
#1267 [with patch] documentation for piecewise does not show up in
      notebook
#1340 [with patch] %cython broken if directory name contains spaces
#1363 [with patch] complex intervals should have a sqrt() method
#1393 [with patch] is_integral_domain may return incorrect answer
#1394 [with patch] make plot documentation readable in graph.py
#1395 [with patch] notebook(directory="foo/") misbehaves
#1404 [with patch] bug in %latex feature in the notebook

Tickets that ought to be invalidated:

#1130 [with patch] point counting for elliptic curves over non-prime
      finite fields

Tickets with negative review:

#1155 [with bundle, with negative review] PermutationGroup coercion
      bug
#1171 [with patch, with negative review] _new() method for quadratic
      field elements
#1186 [with patch, with negative review] Charpoly of a matrix of
      polynomials sometimes breaks
#1189 [with patch, with negative review] SymPy <-> SAGE automatic
conversion [I will look at this one since I applied #1406]
#1258 [with bundle, with negative review] additions and changes to
      linear_codes

Please make sure patches are relative to 2.9.alpha1 or apply
cleanly against it. Obviously patches are welcome for tickets
without solution.

Cheers,

Michael

#491: Michael Abshoff: gcc 4.3: fix givaro build due to ::memcpy
      failure
#492: Craig Citro, David Harvey: gcc 4.3: fix ntl_wrap.cc in
sage_c_lib [this was some time ago]
#1260: Michael Abshoff, Bill Hart: update to FLINT 1.0 and clean
       up spkg-install

ToDo:

 * merge ATLAS.spkg
 * merge PolyBoRi.spkg [more feedback]

##################################################################

Notes:

###### cremona.spkg ######

Added copy command in spkg-install for

qrank/mwrank, qrank/ratpoint, qcurves/findinf,
qcurves/tate, qcurves/conductor, qcurves/torsion,
qcurves/twist, qcurves/allisog, qcurves/indep,
procs/tconic

Done:
  * delete $SAGE_LOCAL/include/mwrank
  * strip the mwrank binaries and link dynamically
  * delete $SAGE_LOCAL/lib/libmwrank.[so|dylib]

###### clisp 2.43 ######

Build on OSX 10.4, OSX 10.5, Linux x86-64, failure on
Debian testing, gcc 4.2.3, known issue -> waiting for
resolution.

clisp: docdir prune as needed.

###### FLINT 1.0 #######

Make sure to touch

devel/sage-main/sage/libs/flint/fmpz_poly.pyx

to force a rebuild if you just update the spkg.
